Common signs in larger, aging dogs and indeed the most likely problem is Cardiomyopathy – fluid build up in the lungs and other organs which will show in the typical signs of a cough.    There are, however, many causes of congestive heart disease and these can be congenital or develop over time. 

The use of a low salt diet, together with medication to control blood pressure and rid the body of excess fluid is recommended.  The problem cannot be cured but usually kept under control.

Recommend:  Adult Maintain – with minimum salt levels and with quality protein, easily assimilated carbohydrates, Fatty Acids and Probiotics and Prebiotics.
